Description: This is a quilt honoring those who served in World War I. Since 1922, members of the VFW have sold Red Poppies on Veterans Day 11 November. The proceeds provide support for the veteran services and welfare. The Disabled American Veterans of World War I officially organized on 25 September 1921 and had their first Forget-Me-Not Day in 1926 now observed on 10 November. Red Poppies and Blue Forget- Me-Nots remind us of the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served our country. Now I realize why we see people selling Red Poppies on street corners today. This quilt project began in 2014, became a UFO in 2015, a work in progress in 2019, and finally finished on June 5, 2020.
