Description: During the pandemic of 2020, the killing of George Floyd prompted many protests throughout the United States. Are We the People finally going to have justice? We have been protesting for many years. Maybe someone is finally listening to our pleas. Police brutality cannot be tolerated. Our rights are being provoked! We are being murdered and killed simply because of the color of our skin. We the People need to stand together and put an end to inequality. Karen chose her piece to expose the graphic nature of what the police have done. Martin Gugino, a 75-year old protester, was pushed to the ground by the police. Karen said, “I could not believe my eyes! Where are the moral values?” A teenage girl was walking home from the grocery store when police shot her with rubber bullets. She was an innocent bystander. Most shocking is George Floyd with a knee to his neck. Each block is bordered with fabric which represents Covid 19. The words to each picture represent the nature of the injury. The blood is embroidered in red thread, and she quilted the piece with multi-color blue and gray thread.
