Description: This Seahorse design is by Laura Heine. Laura makes excellent patterns. However, I find it hard to follow exact patterns. My problem is that I looked at the pattern and wanted to do something “different”. ‘Different’ took on a whole new meaning when I returned to the project a year later. During night scuba dives, anything not in the beam of your flashlight is black. I remember shining my light on a sleeping Emperor Angel fish. The colors popped which I tried to convey to the viewer in this piece. Approximate time to complete – 2 years, 4 months beading. Ingredients: Eyes - A sun embroidery pattern installed in the Creative Sensation II Pfaff Sewing Machine. Rays are stitched out from pattern using metallic translucent thread and gold oval plastic beads for accent. Fins –Purple seahorse - Bronze glass tubes, pink and purple crystal beads. Dorsal fin – Gold oval plastic beads for accent. Blue seahorse – Deep blue crystal tear drops, square iridescent blue crystal short tube beads Body - Silver short crystal tube beads (Japan), beige freshwater pearls Foliage and base – crystal and plastic beads, cowry shells, seashells, freshwater pearls, plastic pearls
