Title: Mary Lassiter “Love Beats Hate” - 12" x 12"

Description: Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Wuhan China in December 2019, there has been an upsurge of violence against the Asian American Pacific Islander community (AAPI) - all AAPIs, not just those of Chinese descent. I was heartbroken and enraged. I marched in Denver’s 2020 Martin Luther King Jr. Marade. Close by, an Asian child was holding a sign that read “love beats hate,” and my soul was blessed by the sincerity and warmth of the words. The words are attributed to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a voice for non-violence, peaceful dialogue, justice, and healing. Cotton, buttons, paint.
